"The japanese watercolour works are among the very first I made with this material in my Candlagan Creek Studio in Broulee on the far south coast of Australia. The atelier where they were made was half outdoors on a covered veranda which gave direct contact with nature and its phenomena, including various species of parrots that came by. 

The material was bought in Paris' oldest material store for art, which in 2022-23 I lived right next to. One of the special things about the material is that it has a high pigment content, is matte, lies well on and in the paper surface, and has more volume than ordinary watercolour.

All of the works stem from experienced and/or fabricated stories from around the world, as well as inspiration from the surfaces, textures and colours of Australia's nature in particular."
